To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the premiere of the film “The Saragossa Manuscript,” directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has and produced at the Wrocław Feature Film Studio, Mr. Tomasz Broda initiated an interesting artistic event, which we were delighted to participate in.
Mr. Tomasz Broda, a professor at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, created a series of original cake stands painted with original designs depicting scenes from the film. These ceramic cake stands will become a unique addition to one of the greatest works of Polish cinema and will serve as an idea combining the culture of Spanish azulejos with the Bolesławiec ceramic tradition. In conjunction with Mr. Tomasz Broda’s work, he also created a limited edition of 100 ceramic mugs for collectors featuring the likeness of Zbigniew Cybulski, who played the main role in the film. The mugs are available from today at the STYL Brand Store in Bolesławiec. We cordially invite you to visit. Mr. Tomasz Broda is a cartoonist, illustrator, poster artist, and professor at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. He creates masks and puppets from everyday objects, which he has presented in his own programs on TVP. He is an eight-time winner of the Satyrykon International Exhibition (including the Grand Prix in 1997). He also received, among other awards, the Illustrator Award in the 2008 Book of the Year competition of the Polish Section of IBBY. He is a member of the Artistic Council of the Satyrykon International Exhibition from 2020 to 2023, and the originator and juror of the “Sketch Has Power” sketchbook competition. He has been awarded the Gloria Artis Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture.
