A REPORT FROM THE VERNISSAGE „NEW DESIGN IN BOLESŁAWIEC’S CERAMIC”

A report from the vernissage „New design in Bolesławiec’s ceramic”, which took place in the Boleslawiec Culture Centre, International Ceramic Centre at 19th of August, 2021.

A large group of talented and creative designers participate in the design phase in the Cooperative of Handicraft “ Ceramic Artistic and Pottery” in Bolesławiec, which activities are coordinated by Artistic Manager Mariusz Ochocki, a graduate of Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. Shapes of his dishes are based on the classic rounded forms, where a care about details and stamps decoration creates the original wholeness.

His new designs are characterised  by a variety of forms and patterns, begging from  a stylish shapes coming from the folk tradition, to the purist shapes put in the Far East esthetic.   This style is always under one rules, careness about shapes of forms with huge respect to functionality.

Taking into account utility ceramics, the preferences and recipients tastes often appoint trends and fashion direction and become a pretext  to look for new and original solutions.

Once again it turned out that stamp motif is a constant source of inspiration, not only  in patterns but also in colours. This kind of rich compositions have been presented by designers Teresa liana and Maria Starzyk.  A colourful designs  like a spring landscape,  coming from the local tradition of stamps ceramics are a proof that every innovation supported by skills and quality is a value.

On the occasion of the 70 years of Cooperative the collection is supplemented by a  reconstruction of jug produced in Bolesławiec in the former “Julius Paul and Son” factory.

The mentioned event is one of the method of the history cultivating by “Ceramic Artistic and Pottery”, also those from the period before the establishment of the Artistic Cooperative of Handicraft.
